Germain Ngoma
Germain Ngoma was born in Zimbabwe in 1953 and moved to Zambia, where he began his artistic career in Lusaka in the early 1970s. He relocated to Oslo to attend art school at Statens kunstakademi in 1982 (National Art Academy).
His work has been exhibited in group shows and solo presentations in Norway at among others Kunstnernes Hus, Astrup Fearnley Museet, Henie Onstad Kunstsenter, Oslo Kunstforening, Kunstnerforbundet, Khartoum Contemporary Art Center, Tenthaus, Galleri F15, as well as internationally in Sweden, Germany, the United Kingdom and Zambia.
He emphasizes the relationship between objects and artwork, between man and art. The sculptures point back to his upbringing with objects that had a limited lifespan. Some objects could be reproduced and reused, while others became worthless. His choice of materials and process reflects this.
